Major & Special Awards

PREMIER CRAFT AWARD:
THE JACQUES CARTIER MEMORIAL AWARD

This is given at the discretion of the Council for exceptional and outstanding craftsmanship. It is only awarded when, in the Council’s judgement, an entry achieves a standard to justify the honour. The winner of the award has their name inscribed in the Jacques Cartier Memorial Award Gold Book and also receives a valuable gold replica of the book PLUS A CASH PRIZE OF £1,500.

THE GOLDSMITHS’ COMPANY AWARD PRIZE - £4,500
To be awarded at the discretion of the Council to the piece of finished work that is judged to have achieved the highest standards of both craftsmanship and design. For an item designed and made by different people, the prize money of £4,500 will be apportioned appropriately.

IJL FINE JEWELLERY DESIGN AWARD
Presented by International Jewellery London, the UK’s only dedicated jewellery trade exhibition. The winner of this award will receive a prize of £1,000 and the opportunity to have their work showcased at the 2009 event.

THE GEM-A DIAMOND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
For a practical diamond grading course at The Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

THE GIL PACKARD BURSARY
This bursary of £1,000 will be awarded to a student to assist with funding post-graduate study in jewellery and/or silversmithing. Entrants should already have been accepted onto a recognised post-graduate course and demonstrate a clear involvement in developing their designs and work with commercial objectives.

QVC FINE JEWELLERY DESIGN AWARD
This new Special Award for fine jewellery will be given for the innovative use of precious and semi-precious gem stones. The winning entrant will recieve a prize of £500 and will need to be available for future publicity.
