On February 29th 2016 the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council welcomed more than 300 VIP guests to the dazzling surrounds of Goldsmiths’ Hall, London, for its annual Awards evening dedicated to superior design and craftsmanship in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades.
Introduced by Council chairman Jos Skeates, this year’s Awards were hosted by British jewellery expert and leading author Joanna Hardy, with VIP guests including Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Ambassadors Shaun Leane and Leo De Vroomen.
More than 700 entries were submitted for the 2016 Awards, with a total of 124 awards given across 25 categories. In total, 100 expert industry judges worked to select this year’s winners, carefully appraising each category’s entries over the course of three weeks.
This year’s awards also attracted a record number of industry supporters – more than 70 in total – including Founding and Lead Patron The Goldsmiths’ Company and Principle Patron Cartier. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our Special and Named Awards Patrons for 2016, including Theo Fennell, Cooksongold, QVC, Boodles, Stephen Webster, the GIA and the many others who contributed to the brilliant success of the 2016 Awards.
