s.9 Platinum Jewellery

Designing a set of platinum jewellery in celebration of the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

We warmly welcome Special Patrons C.HAFNER GmbH to the competition who are offering a brand-new Award that features and promotes Platinum, the most noble of precious metals.

Equally exciting, the timing of this new partnership with the GC&DC is perfect for setting a design brief befitting for her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of dedicated service to the nation and commonwealth.

In celebration, you are invited to design a complimentary set of Brooch and Earrings in platinum to denote the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Select your own fitting concept, inspirational in-depth research is usually the key to distinctive creativity and design individuality.

Your design must be predominately platinum led but you can also use 18ct gold to a maximum of 20% of the finished metal weight, to complement and enhance the platinum. Also consider incorporating precious gemstones to enrich your design and further highlight the concept, platinum and the Queens special landmark event.

You will need to ensure that your design can be successfully translated into 3 dimensions and that the manufacturing and overall cost parameters complies with the allocation of platinum (12gms per Earring and 25gms for the Brooch).

Tips

You are encouraged to research in depth, this is a great way to find exciting, inspiring and different ideas that can answer the design brief really well, with a difference and that helps to make your proposal be a one off, and a statement that would befit the sponsors company ethos and environmental reputation.

Following the awards evening and exhibition, in liaison with the designer, if C.HAFNER feel the winning design is suitable, they would actively encourage taking their design into manufacture with the platinum and gold supplied by the company.

C.HAFNER would then also seek to promote the award-winning jewels in their marketing material to celebrate this unique partnership and the Queens Platinum Jubilee. As part of the prize, the winning designer would be invited to visit C.HAFNER in Germany.
