The Brief - Repurpose Jewellery

A key and important component of business practice in the jewellery industry is the re modelling of family/heirloom jewellery. Clients seek to convert/transpose/translate their treasured hand me downs into new designs, whilst retaining the materials for sentimental and personal reasons. This element represents an important aspect of Vipa’s portfolio and they are keen to see this feature and be represented in the competition, whilst also drawing attention to ethical practice.

One of Vipa Designs clientele wants to have her grandmothers’ rings transformed into a new pendant or ring using the inherited diamonds and gold, in a design that reflects a particular sense of her fashion and personal interest. She is in her 30’s, much of her everyday wear is casual denim and she is an avid Star Wars fan.

The gold and diamonds listed below with supporting image, are the specific inherited materials to use and therefore, the task is to design a contemporary pendant or ring based for everyday wear on the client’s personal profile by utilising her grandmother’s gold and diamonds.

  • Suggested ring size L/M (UK)
  • Chain can be included in the budget or as an optional extra

The image show the gold and diamonds that are specifically:

  • 9 gms of 18ct yellow gold
  • 1 x 4mm brilliant diamond
  • 5 x 2.5 diamonds
  • 11 x 1.4 diamonds
