Traceable Diamond Jewellery 2D

Sponsored by Tracr

We are excited to continue our partnership with Tracr for a third year and invite entrants to rise to the challenge and compete for the prestigious 2D Tracr Design Award, celebrating the fusion of creativity, craftsmanship, technology and ethical transparency.

Tracr is the world's leading digital platform that, through blockchain, traces natural diamonds from source at scale, bringing the ability to explore the provenance, authenticity and the unique journey a diamond has taken along the diamond value chain.

The Brief

Every diamond has its own unique identity, and with every new item of diamond jewellery, another exclusive story is created.

You are challenged to design a platinum and diamond necklace that captures our love of the natural world and showcases the wonders of our planet.

This should be a real statement of design that invites intrigue and conversation.

This brief provides an opportunity to showcase the “Building Forever 2030 Goals” and influence your chosen design theme. Further details found in this link: https://www.debeersgroup.com/%7E/media/Files/D/De-Beers-Group-V2/documents/sustainability-and-ethics/building-forever-goals-summary-2030.pdf

Designs should be iconic and versatile, and able to inspire a wider range of commercial jewellery that retains the same signature style and connects to the theme of traceability.

Project requirements:

  • Platinum will be the metal of choice, known for its durability and purity and is selected not only for its unmatched qualities but also because it's a well-traced and sustainable precious metal, aligning perfectly with Tracr's values. Our collaboration with Platinum Guild International (PGI) further reinforces this commitment, as we work together to promote transparency and traceability in the industry.

  • Diamonds only to be used as the sole gemstone; however, feel free to vary with cuts, number of stones.

  • The size needs to be 30pts and upwards.

  • Originality of design and ability to showcase a rich narrative embracing the ‘Building Forever’ 2030 goals

  • Creative use of diamonds to make a unique statement and capture and enhance their beauty

  • Practical and wearable solution using the unique properties of platinum and appropriate manufacturing processes

  • Design versatility and potential for a commercial range

Your entry must include the following

  • 1 x A3 mounted presentation board per entry, created by hand or using CAD.

Tracr is the world’s first fully distributed diamond traceability platform that starts at the source and operates at scale, bringing the ability to explore the provenance, authenticity and unique journey a natural diamond has taken along the diamond value chain.

"Our ambition is to promote transparency and enhanced confidence in natural diamonds, using the power of digital storytelling."

The backbone of the Tracr platform is fully distributed blockchain technology. As a diamond travels through the value chain, information is uploaded to the blockchain at different stages.

This means that Tracr creates unchangeable, tamper-proof digital records for individual diamonds as they move from source to manufacturer, to the store.

With its innovative approach and advanced technology, Tracr provides a robust solution for today's needs while helping the diamond industry to prepare for the future.
