Tiara Jewellery 2D
Sponsored by Ainsworth Jewellers
We warmly welcome a new and exciting partnership with Ainsworth Jewellers of Blackburn, founded in 1870, who are sponsoring a category focused specifically on bridal tiaras.
Ainsworth Jewellers has an association and affinity with the esteemed fashion designer Eliza Jane Howell, London, whose ‘Inspired’ Bridal and Occasion wear is hand-beaded and bejewelled with metallic and gemstone-inspired colours.
The Brief
The role of the tiara for bridal wear has considerable history and heritage. Its origins date back to the ancient Greco-Roman world, and in the late 18th century, the tiara came into fashion in Europe as a prestigious piece of jewellery to be worn by women at formal occasions.
Today, a tiara is mostly seen as an important feature for bridal wear, where it also serves a specific function.
Your challenge is to design a versatile, comfortable and functional tiara as part of modern-day wedding paraphernalia, which provides value for money as well as playing an important element of the overall wedding outfit. As part of this challenge, your tiara needs to have a detachable element which can be worn as a pendant or earrings.
This detachable aspect of the design could have commercial potential to be developed into a branded collection suitable for the retail market and to generate sales as part of an exciting opportunity for the designer at Ainsworth Jewellers.
Materials – to be made in sterling silver, gold or a combination of both, using gemstones of your choice to decorate and enhance your design.
Please state the manufacturing processes you intend to employ, i.e. hand/production, etc.
