The Brief
Repurpose Jewellery inspired by Moulin Rouge
'Moulin Rouge ', which translates to 'Red Windmill'.
Design a dazzling piece of jewellery for a customer which must hold sentimental aspects. She would like to be surprised with any type of jewellery of your choice.
The client's favourite film is Moulin Rouge, and she has recently been to see this Musical, in London's West End. The client is particularly drawn to this film and era, due to her grandmother working as a Parisian Cabaret Dancer shortly after the Second World War.
The gemstones to be used are from various pieces of her late grandmother’s jewellery, and she would like to combine them in a brand-new item. Your design should combine the opulence, glamour & history of Parisian Cabaret with a contemporary twist.
Please note that this design brief is a fictional scenario.
Gemstones to be used:
1.35-1.45mm round brilliant champagne diamonds x20
1.45-1.55mm round brilliant black diamonds x20
2.5mm round brilliant black diamonds x3
7x5mm elongated cushion dark pink tourmaline
A combined total of 15g of 18ct yellow and red gold
The customer is a big fan of musicals & often visits shows in the West End and Broadway. She is a very social person, and this repurposed jewel will be worn to evening dinners, cocktail parties, special events, etc.
Combining ideas, shapes, forms and influences from history & contemporary is key.
