The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council (GC&DC) returns to International Jewellery London (IJL) for the formal launch of the 2018/19 edition of its annual competition,
The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards.
These prestigious Awards inspire and encourage excellence and skills development among graduates, apprentices, designers and masters working in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades. Full details and design briefs will be available as IJL opens HERE.
At IJL stand S118, the GC&DC will showcase a number of winning pieces from its 2017/18 awards, demonstrating excellence in creative design and craftsmanship. A number of short films will also be on show, offering visitors exclusive insight into the winners and workings of these annual awards.
In addition, and new for 2018, GC&DC in partnership with IJL, have curated Uniquely UK, an exhibition of inspiring signature pieces from 13 of the UK’s leading jewellery designers, as never seen before at IJL. This exclusive inaugural exhibition and promotion will feature works from designers that have all previously won accolades at the GC&DC Awards. There will also be a special IJL Catwalk Show of Award winning jewellery from the 2018 competition, on Monday 3rd September at 12.00.
Speaking of the GC&DC’s presence at IJL, Council chairman Andy Putland said: “We are really looking forward to once again be part of IJL and to meet those keen to take part in our prestigious annual awards, whether new or established designers, apprentices and those considered masters of their craft. The GC&DC Awards are going from strength to strength gaining increasing industry recognition of their importance and value.”
The Council’s consultant Brian Hill, organiser of the Uniquely UK campaign, added: “This is a super opportunity and unique promotion to demonstrate and celebrate fabulous examples of design-led, distinctive jewellery from some of UK’s top designers, all of which have won prizes in the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Awards. Each Uniquely UK designer has links with, and supports our annual competition, which itself encourages, supports and promotes excellence for the profession.”
