The Cox & Power Bursary

For designer makers

The GC&DC is delighted to announce a partnership with Cox & Power to facilitate a new and groundbreaking bursary in the competition. This will offer a unique range of experiences whilst being based at their gallery, retail business and workshop for a month.

It is geared for jewellery designer makers at any stage of their career after graduation, who would benefit from and utilise this considerable arm of help and support through direct involvement at and with Cox & Power. This would be across their entire operation of their business, including the responsible sourcing of materials and ethical practices. The winner would be able to make their own designs, market, promote and sell at the Cox & Power gallery.

Applications for this bursary will be via the online application process, stating your reasons for applying, what areas of business practice you would like to experience and know more about, and how you would benefit from undertaking this unique prospect and fabulous opportunity.

The potential of this bursary will:

  • Champion designers/makers with an ethical approach to their work and practice

  • Explore reciprocal ways of working and supporting others in the trade

  • Amplify the voices of people in the mining and making communities

  • Offer an experience and insight into facets of the industry

  • Create a new audience for the bursary winner’s work

  • Bring new work to the attention of the pubic, showing clients they have a part to play in their collecting/buying choices by raising awareness of ethics in jewellery and luxury; also by celebrating materials, fine crafted work and showcasing makers who represent these values
