The Emerging Talent Award
Sponsored by Jenny Bloy FRSA FIPG
We are delighted to announce a brand-new Patron Award sponsored by trade designer and GC&DC member Jennifer Bloy, who seeks to encourage and support the younger generation of designers aspiring to present their work using traditional hand rendering techniques.
The spotlight here is to find and support an entrant showing an affinity and promise through their 2D entry.
The winner will be offered an invaluable opportunity to undertake a short period of work experience with a professional designer, be given a materials grant or voucher for art materials or a combination of the two. This will be decided on the day of judging this award.
All 2D entrants up to the age of 30 will be eligible and will be able to enter their design/s for this award through the online application process. All qualifying entries will be judged by a panel of experienced experts in hand rendering, including Jennifer, who will be looking for promise and potential in an entrant that would benefit from the option of undertaking some skills training.
It is important to reiterate that all eligible entries across the 2D Design categories will be included, irrespective of awards that may have been won in the competition. The Emerging Talent Award is not for best in class, but it targets an entrant who is showing aptitude and desire to learn, develop and become proficient using traditional rendering techniques of the designer.
Some CAD and printing is permitted, but only for the purpose of presentation, e.g. lettering, etc. The main rendered presentation and technical drawing/s must be hand done, and the original work: prints or photocopies of these are not eligible.
To confirm, this award is purely for entries using hand-rendered techniques only for the presentation and representation of their design, and any technical drawings, but the design layout and mounting will be taken into account.
